Unfortunately there is an advertising technique used in the carpet cleaning business that gives the industry a bad name. Some carpet cleaning companies use “bait and switch” advertising to make the consumer think they are getting a good deal initially, only to come out to your house on cleaning
day and up charge you significantly. Here is how it usually works. You call about an ad that claims $6.95 per room/ steam cleaned. You book the appointment and they come out and tell you that the $6.95 is for a surface cleaning and you need the deep scrub method. Oh, by the way, the deep scrub method is an additional .30 cents per square foot. They do the math and the three rooms that you want cleaned measure 600 square foot times .30 cents per square foot.
You are now looking at $180 plus $6.95 times the 5 rooms. The grand total comes out to $214.75 for just the cleaning. That price is without the protector and deodorizer as well. Unfortunately, this happens all the time and consumers should be made aware that if the advertised price looks too good to be true, it is.
